‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father….’
Matthew 25:31-46
On our island here, when we hear a story about sheep and goat it would probably go like this, “Dat curry goat was bess” or “Dat stew lamb hit the spot”.
However, in this exhaustive parable Jesus uses the method of a shepherd who separates his sheep from his goats in order to help his followers understand what judgement will be like. The straightforward message is to attend to the needy around you. Jesus identifies himself with the person in need. Every time we neglect to help a brother or sister in need, we neglect Jesus himself.
Let us not forget to reach out to others as we are asked to, otherwise, we are missing the whole point of living.
