Tuesday February 15th: Stick break in your ears?

Have you eyes that don’t see and ears that don’t hear.

Mark 8: 14-21

Our grandparents used to say, “Stick break in you ears? All you not only blind, all you deaf too!”
This is what Jesus is saying to the people then, whose focus is on surface level. It is exactly what He is saying to us now. After all He has done and continues to do, we are still unable to give Him the honor and glory He deserves. Our hearts are still centered on earthly things.
Today, we are in panic mode about the global pandemic and seem to miss the deeper lessons requiring us to take stock of our lives. We also often forget that God is greater than any virus and what He can do far surpasses anything the Coronavirus is capable of. Matthew 10:28 says, ” Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Lord, open our eyes and deepen our understanding of your grace and mercy at work
