A seed is both mystery and hope.
Mark 4: 26 – 34.
The kingdom of God is compared to a seed. In the first instance it is like a seed someone sowed in the ground and was left to sprout and grow. In the second instance it is like a seed that has sprouted and grown and provided shelter for the birds.
A seed is both mystery and hope. Mystery because we are not sure how it sprouts and grows. After sowing it we can only wait and see. Hope, because we expect it to sprout and grow and bear fruit.
The kingdom of God is like that seed, clouded in mystery yet filled with hope. Most times it is silent and unseen. It is working but we are not sure how and how much. Only after some time has passed we see the effects of its presence and unseen work.
What do we do while the kingdom remains hidden like a seed that is sown? We keep hopeful. God never disappoints; we continue to hope and trust
