“ by using my name they will cast out demons..”
Mark 16:15-18
Today we celebrate the feast of the conversion of St Paul. We are reminded that God can call anyone to become His witness. He called an assassin. That is the God we serve! Conversion is an ongoing process, and we must be open to God’s call to become His witnesses.
In today’s gospel, Jesus, before he ascends, tells the disciples to “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” Today Jesus tells us the same thing. He urges us to spread that same good news We do not have to go as far as Paul did to carry the Good News. Our family, friends, workplace, social media and schools are all within easy reach.
Simple words and actions can bring healing to those who are lonely. Patience, attentive care, and honest conversation with some disgruntled individual, may help that person and us to cast out our “demons”.
Jesus asks us to first believe. It is faith in the risen Christ which will empower us.
