‘Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.’
Luke 4: 14-22
Jesus’ gracious words brought hope, joy, and favour to those who were ready to receive him. His proclamation of the fulfilment of the prophecy of Isaiah brought wonder to his people.(Isaiah 61:1-2). In relaying this Good News Jesus awakened hope in the promises of God.
Jesus came to set us free from the worst oppression thinkable and the ultimate fear of death. God’s power alone can save us from emptiness and poverty of spirit, from confusion and error, and from hopelessness, a hopelessness which we see affecting multitude of homes globally. The gospel of salvation is “good news” for us today as we navigate through this unprecedented time. We battle with an invisible virus that has no discrimination to race, gender, or age.
“Lord Jesus, you are the fulfilment of all our hopes and dreams. Through the gift of your Holy Spirit, you bring us grace, truth, life, and freedom. Fill me with the joy of the gospel and inflame my heart with love and zeal for you and your will”.
