Tuesday December 21st: Living the Eucharist.

Mary brings Elizabeth and her babe into Holy Communion.

Luke 1:39-45

Today’s Gospel passage took on new meaning for me this year due to Pandemic protocols of not hugging, visiting and all physical distancing experiences. Many times I want to reach out and hug but must hold myself back.
This hurts. Why? As human beings we were created for intimacy with God and others. We thrive in healthy relationships, Eucharistic experiences outside of the Mass.
Today’s meeting is one of intimacy, the babe leapt in Elizabeth’s womb. Mothers know that their babies leap at the touch of certain persons, siblings and daddy. John leapt because Jesus was present. Though physically distant, are we maintaining closeness others? This is Holy Communion in the world. Closeness with others will help us in our intimacy with God and vice versa.
Lord, we pray that we will consciously work on being in holy communion with others as we come into communion with you. Amen
