May we also reflect that we too are predisposed through our baptism for a special task that we must fulfil.
Luke 1: 26-39
While putting up my Christmas decorations about a week ago, we were also playing Christmas music in the background. Just as one of my favourite Christmas songs, “Mary did you know?” started playing, my ten-year-old son blurted out, “Of course Mary knew!”
For some reason, I felt like the Holy Spirit was calling me to ponder on this. Of course, Mary may not have known the entire story of God’s plan for her in salvation history, but she knew that she was pre-disposed to give her fiat because she was full of grace.
As we prepare to celebrate the Coming of Christ at Christmas, may we also reflect that we too are predisposed through our baptism for a special task that we must fulfil. Even if our “grace tanks” may have been running on empty for some time, let us make use of the sacraments, while we still can, for replenishment.
Prayer: Jesus, I really want to give you my fiat and surrender myself to you just as Mary did.
