The fourth annual Season of Creation Challenge hosted by the Franciscan Institute for Personal and Family Development was open to Catholic primary and secondary schools, youth groups and parishes in Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and St Lucia. The theme was A home for all? Renewing the Oikos of God.
Participants were invited to submit videos, Spoken Word poetry or any other type of poem (performance or written), art, essays, articles, photos, or PowerPoint presentations. There were five categories: Pollinators, Marine Life, Family Tree, Building a Home, and Vegetation. A total of 248 entries was received from the three island nations.
Of the 24 participating primary schools from T&T, Hardbargain RC St Paul’s Primary was the ‘Most Outstanding Primary School’. Here are some of what the students produced.
Ava-Lee Ramlochan loves animals and enjoys everything about nature. She recently rescued a tortoise crossing the road. Ava made her mother Analese stop, picked it up gently and took it home.
Ronako Santana says “I love doing this project because God created the earth and its animals. I found it interesting and fun to plant flowering plants with the help of my parents to feed butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. I used recycled stakes, wires and rocks that I painted to help beautify my garden.”
