Saturday December 11th, Deeper Understanding of Jesus

Let us put a Question to Jesus….

Matthew 17:9a, 10-13

There is a movement in this Gospel passage that runs parallel to one of its substantive messages – that people, by failing to dialogue with Jesus, stay in ignorance of who Jesus Himself is.
It begins on a journey ‘as they came down from the Mountain’ then ‘the disciples put [a] question to Jesus’ then ‘Jesus replied’. Finally, ‘[t]he disciples understood then.’
We too are coming down from some mountain experience with Jesus. He never leaves us and there is always room to learn and understand more. As Jesus journeys with us, let us, in prayer, put a question to Him and wait for His reply. That process is going to lead us to a deeper understanding of whatever situation we put to Jesus – a deeper understanding of who Jesus is. Dialogue with Jesus, come to know Him.
