“But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.”
Luke 21:20-28
In today’s gospel reading we enter into the suffering and persecution that the faithful will endure. The images paint a reality of great difficulties and fear. Yet, we are reminded that the King of Glory will return to save and to rescue. We are invited to look with confidence and hope for His return rather than be overwhelmed by the harsh realities.
As we move towards the end of the liturgical year and look toward the season of Advent, a period of preparation for the birth and second coming of Christ, may we fill our minds and hearts with the hope and confidence of the saving power of our Redeemer.
Lord, the challenges and disappointment are many. The burden is heavy at times, but we choose to focus on You, Lord. We surrender our hearts and minds to your saving power, your grace and your healing . Amen.
