Jesus is looking at our discipleship.
The widow is sandwiched today: the Scribes devouring widows houses and questions Jesus.
The widow, amidst her trials, comes to the treasury and gives her all. Jesus looks at her and says, “The poor widow has put in more than any of them.” Jesus is looking at our discipleship.
A disciple gives all amidst trials and difficulties. The widow is a disciple of Jesus. She reminds us that giving our all is important. Jesus has poured into our hearts His Spirit to do his will.
Our discipleship demands us to give all. Jesus is waiting, looking, seeing what we are putting into the kingdom. Where your treasure is, your heart will be also.
Her giving reflects her discipleship, total giving, total surrender to the Lord. She gives generously because she knew to whom she belonged.
She was complete in her discipleship. Others question but she surrendered. Her faith was in Christ alone. Jesus engages us to be like the widow. Can we? Jesus is looking for us to be like the widow surrendering and giving our all.
