Bishop Lawrence Nicasio (left) and seminarians stand near a painting done to commemorate the start of the Synod 2021–2023 process at the opening Mass on October 17 at Holy Redeemer Cathedral in Belize City.
The painting – ‘We Journey Together’ by artist Alex Sanker – depicts the Synodal Church past and present in Belize, on the journey of truth and charity together. Bishop Nicasio blessed the painting during the Mass. It will remain at the cathedral for the faithful to view, and printed copies will be distributed to parishes. A special song inspired by the Synod prayer was also composed by musician Jackie Castillo and sung by Sr Mary Rachel SOLT
