29 years of Eucharistic Adoration at St Ann’s

On Monday, October 18, the Feast Day of St Luke, St Ann’s parish celebrated 29 years of perpetual Eucharistic adoration.
Parish Priest of St Ann’s, Fr Alan Mohammed OP, began his homily by saying that the Kingdom was very near to the parishioners of St Ann’s, that they were exceptionally blessed for having the continuous presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament through perpetual Eucharistic adoration.
He accredited the source of hospitality he received from the parishioners of St Ann’s to be attributed to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and thanked Fr Eugene Delahunt OP (dec) for establishing it for the salvation of souls.
Quoting from the saints, he explained that when we come before Jesus in our Holy Hour, in worship, sacrifice and prayer, renouncing self, we share in the redemptive work of Jesus for souls and in the work of evangelisation.
Venerable Fulton Sheen said, “It is a sharing in the work of Redemption…it is a sacrifice in union with Christ. The only time Our Lord asked the Apostles for anything was the night He went into agony. Not for activity did He plead but for an hour of companionship.”
Fr Alan gave rich testimony of souls who strayed from the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confession, were converted, and became devout adorers, due to loved ones spending time before the Eucharistic Jesus.
Heaven and Earth are united in adoration before the Most Blessed Sacrament, he said and he encouraged all parishioners, to make Him known and loved.
Preceding this celebration of Mass was a novena on the Holy Eucharist. —Joy Nanton
