Luke 12: 35 – 38
Jesus tells us today, ‘See that you are dressed for action and have your lamps lit.’
This speaks to us about ‘waiting’ but waiting in our culture is not something we see as positive; we often attribute it to time wasting. Parents and teachers know what it means to wait on their charges, how to walk together with them ensuring that none is left behind before moving to the next level.
As I reflect, the saying ‘everything in God’s time’ comes to mind. We are reminded that as disciples of Jesus we too are called to wait on others, giving them space to be themselves, paying them the respect to allow them to exercise their creativity, so we can walk together in solidarity and mutual enrichment.
Jesus invites us to stay the course and not be satisfied with only being dressed for action with lamp lit but to be like those who wait for their master’s return from the wedding feast, ready to open the door as he knocks. May we not grow weary of waiting,
