‘So, I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you’
Luke 11: 15-26
I could not help but think of Saint Monica after reading today’s Gospel. She begged and begged without quitting. Seventeen years of it until her dear son Augustine not only converted but went on to become a saint himself.
Jesus reminds us that Prayer demands a certain level of Practice, Perseverance, Positivity and Persistence.
I look back to times when I’d asked and it was given, sought and I found, knocked and it was opened to me. I also recall when I was not given, when I did not find, and when the door remained shut.
In all humility, I ask the Lord for that childlike faith and trust, in Him and his love for me. I pray for the ability to trust him when my prayers are not answered and ask for a His supreme gift of the Holy Spirit.
