Thursday September 30th: Moving On

“Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet…”

Luke 10:1-12

In the daily walk of the disciple, there will be those who receive the word and there will be others who reject it.
We are called to bear patient testimony to the gospel putting up with another until we see results. Yet there are times when one must move on when there is hostility, rejection and deep pain. In these instances Jesus instructed his disciples to move on in freedom, shaking the dust off their sandals.
The shaking of the dust symbolized that nothing can be done again, that all that could be done was done and the disciple was now moving on with freedom to continue his work in places where the gospel would be received.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
