Anything that causes you to turn around and walk on the right path is good.

Anything that causes you to turn around and walk on the right path is good. Whether it is a bad thing or not, it is good because the end result is good. Don’t hold anything against them who do you bad because it may turn out to do you good. As it is said by Herman Melville in Moby Dick of the useful storm: ‘Woe unto those who try to smoothen the waters that God himself has brewed into a storm.’
Let the storm blow. All of us have ‘a storm (thorn) in the flesh’ which we may perceive that does us bad. But let it churn and blow the house down, it is a test for the foundation. All of us need ‘foundation tests’, to discover if our house is safe and sturdy or whether structural repair is needed to replace new beams or roof or rafters. It is in the rebuilding on an acceptable structure and sturdy foundation that will make this ‘thorn in the flesh’ worth the suffering.
