And all were astounded at the greatness of God.
Recently, someone I know got an opportunity to advance her career. It all happened suddenly and unexpectedly. It was a miracle. Inexplicable protocols had been overturned. “And all were astounded at the greatness of God!” There was great rejoicing among family and friends and preparations for the move began. However, on the day before she took up the position, she fell ill and had to be hospitalised.
It was like what Jesus had said ‘The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands.” She has been in human hands as the medical fraternity rallies to restore her health. Her faith continues to be tested. As Christians, as his followers, we are called ever so often to pick up our cross and follow Christ.
A cross is not an easy object to carry. But we do come to know that God is present in whatever is happening and that only being yoked to Christ himself, will we be able to accept the Father’s will and carry our cross.
