For God so loved the world….
John 3: 13-17
This week there have been unusual sightings of flocks of brilliantly red Scarlet Ibis flying overhead, originating from Venezuela going East in search of new feeding grounds.
My inquiries to Nanan Bird Sanctuary Tours revealed that the rising sea levels, caused by man induced climate change, are sadly salinating the swamps, destroying their traditional feeding grounds.
As I reflected on this and other man made environmental disasters the Gospel line …for God so loved the world… made me feel guilty as part of mankind.
I thought of Pope Francis message in his encyclical ‘Laudato Si’ – that God is calling us to be his stewards of the planet by adopting a sustainable lifestyle. And I committed myself to make a greater effort.
