

Training of catechists in the South/Central Vicariate was a challenge during the pandemic. However, 50 catechists from both vicariates were able to complete their training online and will be presented with their certificates this month.
‘Blended Learning’ became a buzz phrase, and catechists needed to support each other through this process, so a First Communion support group was established to help catechists to create blended learning material.
Catechists from all over the archdiocese have been attending this once-per-month workshop that takes place virtually. Confirmation, infant Baptism and RCIA support groups would soon be established.
Since the new directory promulgated in Rome last year focuses on kerygmatic catechesis, a six-week developmental session, retreat style will be done for catechists based on Meeting Jesus on the Road to Emmaus, a book by Fr Dennis Billy CSsR, a retreat master.
