Getting ready for the European football season

Who is going to win!

Our youth reporter Joshua Britto gives us his predictions

1. Ligue 1 (France) – Paris Saint Germain

After failing to win the league last season, coach Mauricio Pochettino showed the owners his FiFA Ultimate Team and to everyone’s surprise each player cost less than a dinner mint. The new players arriving are Donnarumma, Hakimi, Messi, Wijnaldum, Ramos and on top of that they already have Neymar, Mbappe, Veratti, Di Maria and Marquinhos. Of course, they’re winning the league.

2. Bundesliga (Germany) – Bayern Munich

Need I say more? It will be the same as before. Former winners Bayer Leverkusen will impress, but by March Bayern will display dominance and inevitably win the league with Lewandowski scoring for fun.

3. La Liga (Spain) – Atletico Madrid

Last season went to the wire but this season will be Atletico’s to lose. Barcelona is in a self-dug grave and Real Madrid is a house on fire. Sevilla, the only team I am seeing that will give them a challenge, is selling their best players. So coach Diego Simeone and his men have an opportunity to become back-to-back champions.

4. Serie A (Italy) – Juventus

Inter Milans steady climb to dominance is over before it even began as their Chinese owners are bankrupt. So they were forced to sell key players like Lukaku and Hakimi. Meanwhile, in Turin, Juventus aka the ‘Old Lady’, is set to show why they are Italy’s most successful and hated team by rehiring coach Massimiliano Allegri who won them five straight titles. With Ronaldo being Ronaldo, and most of the squad having a decent-to-amazing Euros, who can stop them? AC Milan (I wish), please!

5. Premier League (England) – Chelsea

As an Arsenal fan, I would love to say us, but decisions like spending 50 million pounds on Brighton defenders:halt that train of thought. Tottenham has no trophies but always manages to find a way to hinder great runs of form. Remember they fired Mourinho a week before a final. Manchester City spent 100 million pounds on attaining Jack Grealish from Aston Villa—that decision alone rules them out from defending their title. Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk has returned after being out for much of last season core so I don’t think they willbe 100 per cent till midseason. Manchester United has a strong squad but with Marcus Rashford having to undergo surgery for carrying his club and feeding children in England. I just don’t see them going all the way. Chelsea, on the other hand, is a sure winner. They’ve re-signed Lukaku (after foolishly letting him go years ago) and their midfield had an amazing Euros. They solved their goalkeeping issues last season.
