Why do you set this trap for me?
Mark 12: 13 – 17
“Give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar – and to God what belongs to God.” This is one of my go to verses in times of money woes.
However, in meditating on today’s gospel to write this reflection, the line “Why do you set this trap for me?” jumps out at me most. Realizing in my own life, I sometimes set traps for persons I love, to then judge their response or reaction to see if they really care or know me.
Like the Chief Priests and Scribes, I have allowed my insecurity to get the better of me.
I pray that God continues to open my eyes to the shortcomings within myself. I pray that He also grants me the tools that I may work to improve the love I have for myself so I may be a better loved one to others and ultimately a better Christian.
