Thursday May 20th: May they all be one

‘I have made your name known to them.’

John 17:20-26

There are two theologies that Christians can choose, an inclusive or an exclusive. The inclusive allows us to see all people as children of God and that they will inherit eternal life, not because of religion but because they believe in God and depend on a relationship with God. Christians with this belief will know that they must be Jesus so that non Christians can come to know Jesus. They make his name known by their life of inclusion, compassion and love.

Christians who choose to be exclusive may think that only Christians will inherit eternal life and they fail to value the good of the non Christian. Such a Christian may not be living the prayer of Jesus ‘Father may they all be one”.

Today let us seek to make Jesus’ name known by the life we live and let us be a light to the Gentiles so we may all be one. Amen.
