The Education Ministry suspended all face-to-face classes at schools following Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s May 15 announcement of a State of Emergency.
In a media release that day, the Ministry said all administrative operations should be done remotely “as far as possible”. It directed all teaching and learning to be conducted remotely.
On April 6, the Education Ministry announced schools will continue using “the hybrid format” in Term III which started April 12. From Term II, students of forms 4–6 were able to access physical classes only for practical subject components while other Secondary, Primary and Early Childhood Care and Education students were to continue using online or package systems.
The release said the Ministry understood the concerns which stakeholders may have and was working assiduously to ensure the best interest of all concerned.
