Jesus is not abandoning anyone since he wants all the disciples to be with him where he is.
John 14: 1 – 6.
Today’s Gospel speaks to two points: Jesus’ assurance that no disciple will be forgotten or ignored and the tremendous hospitality of God.
The disciples were listening to Jesus speak of his departure and they began to panic. When he goes, what will happen to them? But Jesus’ leaving them was for a good, since he was going back to the Father. Jesus is not abandoning anyone since he wants all the disciples to be with him where he is. If Jesus is going to the Father, then heaven is the destiny of all disciples. (John 14: 3).
No one is excluded. Jesus said, “In our Father’s house there are many rooms”. This suggests that in God there is a tremendous hospitality. Heaven is not for a select few or an elite group. It is for everyone.
Jesus is the way to the Father for all who turn to him in faith. This Easter season is a reminder that Jesus’ passion and resurrection opened the way to heaven for all believers.
