Saturday April 17th: It is I

“The wind was strong and the sea was getting rough”

John 6:16-21

Imagine being those disciples who witness Jesus walking on the water. The journey begins when we take our boat and go off to the other side as evening comes, without Jesus. At first, everything is fine but after rowing for three to four miles trouble starts. The wind is strong and the sea becomes rough. We are out in the raging sea, alone, nowhere to run – a very familiar scenario.
But that is never the end of our story. It is when everything seems lost that some Jesus person appears, out of nowhere, some unexpected turn of events takes place. These make the impossible possible, as they walk on the waters of our troubles. Their focus is only us not on the rough sea and wind. They pacify and reassure us saying- “It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Comforted by these words and their presence we reach where we are going without us realizing it.
Thank you dear Jesus for walking on the water for us.
