Bishop Francis Alleyne OSB of Georgetown received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on March 12. Following his vaccination, he encouraged people to get the vaccine when it is available to them. In his statement, Bishop Alleyne said that “COVID-19 is a name we are very familiar with and also familiar with how serious this threat is to the whole of humanity, the whole of Guyana. We have been asked to take all of the precautions and help each other in combatting this threat.”
The Bishop said that now that the vaccines are available, all can come forward to protect each other, “to push this threat away”.
“So, I certainly give every word of encouragement to look out for when this is available in your age range or in your area and let us do this for each other, ” Bishop Alleyne said.
