Thursday March 25th: Feast of The Annunciation

“May it be done to me according to Your word.”

Luke 1:26-38

During our Lenten journey, a time of drawing close to God and getting our hearts and minds in alignment with God’s word, we celebrate today the Feast of The Annunciation. It is a celebration of two things: God reaching down to humanity in our fallen state to save us through His Son Jesus and Mary’s acceptance to be used as a vessel for the salvation of mankind.
Mary, young, afraid, bewildered and betrothed to Joseph accepts, making a free choice to be used as the handmaid of God. Her yes and abandon into the hands of a loving God in spite of conditions that may have made it difficult to accept is a model for us in our Christian journey; where we trust and accept God’s word because He is not like men that He should lie ( Numbers 23:19). What He says, He will do and so we ought not to worry but to trust in Him to be used for His glory.
