Wednesday March 17th: One with the Father

The Father’s work continues through us.

John 5:17-30

Today’s Gospel passage reminds me of the saying that ‘Children learn what they see; what they live’. Jesus talks about his deep and free relationship with the Father when he says, “The son can do nothing on his own but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise.”

How wonderful it is when we work in harmony with others as the Father and the Son worked. This passage reminds us that we are called to share in that unity for we are created in ‘the image and likeness of God’.

We celebrate the human relationships in our families, in the workplace and wherever people are in harmony. They help us to understand what Jesus meant by the words: “My Father goes on working, and so do I”. When we work as partners, we understand that the work of one is the work of the other and that the Father’s work continues through us.

We pray that, like Jesus, we will have an intimate relationship with the Father.
