I know who you are ….
Mark 1: 21-28
Today let us reflect on the question, ‘What do you want with me, Jesus of Nazareth?’. Sometimes it feels as if we have one trial after another. That in the midst of one thing, we have to start battling something else. Sometimes we long for peaceful waters in our lives. Sometimes in the midst of our testing situations we too cry out ‘What do you want with me, Jesus of Nazareth?’ It feels as if we are operating from a place beyond where coping is possible.
This passage gives us our answer – I know who you are: the Holy One of God. If in the midst of our trials and persecutions we can recognise the hand of God, the very presence of the Holy One of God, then He can bring us through it. We then allow God to ‘make a deep impression’ on us and to ‘astonish’ us.
Open my eyes to recognise you in the midst of my trials, O Lord.
