Pause!
In this ever fast, never stopping, always connected life, we often don’t get to schedule in a pause.
We don’t seem to get to make time to step away, to reset, to do something different and to really appreciate God’s gift of life to us.
Mark 6:31 says, “And he said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while’.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.
Luke 10:38–42 says, “Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.’
But the Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her’.”
Sometimes we get so caught up in things that we forget what’s important! So perhaps last year you couldn’t do the hustle and bustle. This may not have been a year of Christmas shopping for presents and turkey and ham. It may not have been a big family lime kind of Christmas. But you know what? The change is good even if you can’t see it in the now.
When you check back this was a God is good kind of Christmas. This was a Jesus-is-born kind of Christmas. This year was a ‘Wow, I made it alive kind of year!”
It was a year of giving thanks for every moment and for good friends and family.
It was a year to pause and really reflect on what matters.
Sometimes God gives us a pause to really help appreciate what we have! But don’t wait on that……Go ahead take a pause!
