Then he began to speak to them, ‘This text is being fulfilled today even while you are listening.’
Luke 4: 14 – 22
In today’s reading, we find Jesus described as returning to Galilee being “filled with the Power of the (Holy) Spirit”. How can we as Christians, be filled with the Holy Spirit? Put very simply, if we want our lives to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we must remove what is not of Him. By ridding ourselves of what is not of The Holy Spirit (i.e., sin )we will make room for the Spirit to reside within us. The more we rid ourselves of what is unclean the more room we have for the Holy Spirit.
It is very important that we utilise the beautiful Sacrament of Reconciliation to assist us in the process, and mere obedience of course. God tells you to do something, do it. It takes desire and depth.
Help me to walk in you, O Spirit of God. Grow good fruit in my life. You are the one who produces these in me: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. I cannot live without these things on my own; I need you.
Amen
