Tuesday December 15th: YES!!!

“…He said in reply, ‘Yes, sir,’ but did not go.”

Matthew 2:28-32

This story of the two sons hits the very core of the Christian’s walk of faith. It seems as if Jesus is warning us about ‘what we say we are going to do’ vs ‘what we actually do’. This reminds me a very popular proverb: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”. How many times are we too, guilty of this, breaking promises, especially to ourselves? Jesus is calling us to act… to do “His father’s will”.
We are in the third week of Advent – LOVE, almost the end of another calendar year and a very challenging year at that! What better time to put love into action. Volunteering for a ministry at church, visiting an elderly relative or Home for the Aged, adopting a less fortunate family or single parent, committing to make ourselves more available for the Holy Sacraments, helping the migrants in your community, are some great ideas. Let’s also include the younger ones so that they too, can see how important it is for us to keep to our word as our YES becomes a YES of action.
