Without sandals and camel skin, we now are the great witnesses to the presence of Jesus in our midst.
John 1: 6-8; 19-28
John the Baptist was a man full of light; but he was not the light. He came specially chosen by God to bear witness to the light.
We too are full of light. We light up this world we live in. However, we cannot stand in the way of the light that we are called to be witness to. It requires a large measure of humility to allow the light to increase as we decrease.
All persons of faith are called by God to perform a role. We have a unique opportunity here to identify that role. As a faith community we have always recognized the importance of John’s witness to Jesus. We too have been commissioned by God to perform the role of bearing witness to Jesus today, present here in the flesh with us.
Without sandals and camel skin, we now are the great witnesses to the presence of Jesus in our midst, in the streets, in our homes and in our workplaces. He is present here now, as he was present then.
