Advent reminds us that God feels for us to the point of sending us his only Son who is our life and salvation.
Mathew 11: 16 – 19.
Jesus’ description of the crowds made them seem emotionally numb. They were moved neither by the playing of pipes nor the singing of dirges. They understood neither John’s austerity nor Jesus’ feasting. They remained aloof from the goings-on around them. If people seem, at times, unmoved by or aloof from their surroundings, God is never that way. Advent reminds us that God feels for us to the point of sending us his only Son who is our life and salvation. We must never be emotionally dead to anyone. People’s sorrow and need must touch us to the point of moving us to reach out to them. This Advent we can reach out to someone who is in emotional distress as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic. We can reach out to a family that no longer has an income. We can enquire about what is needed in our Church community. As God reaches out to us in love, we can reach out to others in love.
