“When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.”
Luke 21:20-28
In Luke’s Gospel we are told of the destruction of Jerusalem reminiscent of what was foretold in the book of Daniel. Jerusalem was, for the Jews and Christians, the Eternal City; and now the destruction of Jerusalem is being foretold. One can only imagine the emotions of hopes being dashed and crushed, the disappointment and the trauma.
Yet amid the prediction of the destruction of Jerusalem and the apocalyptic happenings that will take place, which paint a picture of much misery, persecution and suffering for God’s people, there is still hope.
Even to the end of this time, when the foot of the enemy is upon our neck, we have great hope that the Rock of All Ages will not abandon His people. He is our constant hope that we look towards.
