A lack of initiative and trust stunt our growth and we lose all.
Luke 19:11-28
As teachers, we often encourage our students to reach for the stars. I recall a teacher challenging her class to pool their resources and help one another in the class so that all can succeed. That year the entire class did exceptionally well. This class experience came to mind as I read the Gospel for today.
The truth is success is impossible if we shy away from risk. The students in the class mentioned above invested their talents, they took a decision that no one in the class will be left behind, their mantra was, ‘we can make it if we try’. They encouraged those who were lagging behind, boosting their self-confidence.
The Gospel calls us today to invest our God given talents for our good and the good of others. We are called to increase our talents and the only way to do that is to take risks and invest time and energy in pursuit of the betterment of all God’s sons and daughters. A lack of initiative and trust stunt our growth and we lose all.
