Archdiocese prays for missionary priest diagnosed with COVID-19

Fr Alex Viruthakulangara CSsR, a former parish priest at St Dominic’s, Penal and Holy Cross, Santa Cruz has been hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the St Rose Hospital, Sienna campus, Nevada with COVID-19.

According to information coming to Catholic News, Grenny, one of the nurse practitioners with the medical team treating the Redemptorist priest, said that Fr Alex is “recovering well”. “He still needs oxygen support and still on medications,” Grenny relayed via WhatsApp chat. Grenny also said that Fr Alex has expressed thanks for the love, support and prayers extended to him during this period.

Via WhatsApp, Fr Alex also shared “Thanks to all the Rev. Fathers [in T&T]. You all are real caring and loving people. May God listen to your prayers and I am praying for you all”.

The Archdiocese of Port of Spain continues to pray for his speedy recovery.
