November 14th: Persistence Pays Off

“Because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!”

Luke 18 1-8

Recently, my wife, Sandee, and so many others found themselves locked out of returning home because of the pandemic and the attending closed borders. Like the persistent widow in today’s Gospel they had to “keep bothering” the authorities for permission to return home. Many still have not received justice.

They have no alternative but to “cry out to God day and night” with faith that “he will see that they get justice, and quickly”.

Lord we thank you for listening to the many proverbial persistent widows who cry out to you day and night. Please show them your mercy.
