Lesser mortals, who repented, are storming the gates of heaven while we are left behind.
Matthew 21:28-32
It is not on the stroke of midnight or at the last hour before dawn. No! The darkest hour is the moment when evening falls and the promise is broken. As reality dawns and no remorse surfaces from your son or your sister, real darkness descends as you feel the roof of your heart collapse and something inside you breaks, forever.
It is a great feeling to say yes and please the boss or the parent. It creates a momentary glow, a feeling of getting something done. It is a common trait used by leaders to get the vote. It is what the manifesto is all about, to kiss your babies and capture your votes; and then brokenness.
While the preachers preached we nod our heads in agreement. On the way home we return to our old ways. We can’t shake the habit. The selfish stubborn place calls like a Divine Master and we follow. Meanwhile lesser mortals, who repented, are storming the gates of heaven while we are left behind.
