The COVID-19 period saw the stirring up of the Holy Spirit among five zealous youths from Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), San Fernando as they were moved to fellowship one night through songs of worship, prophetic edification and reflection into the profound revelation of scripture.
Today, they make up the Holy Spirit Chosen ministry and continue to “fan the flames” even in a virtual space. This ministry’s adopted name was a response to the evangelical mission of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The official founding date of the ministry was May 29, 2020.
The executive arm comprises Auchelle Thomas, Bryan Matadeen, Auchanna Thomas, Angel Farrell, Zanetta Modeste, Annisha Solomon, Stephon Longdon and Lucia Batholomew.
Though originally intended for young people, the group has opened to persons of any age with a “yearning for God” said co-founder Auchelle Thomas.
At present, they are under the spiritual direction of Fr Hyginus Ekwuazu who resides at OLPH.
Thomas shared the vision of the ministry is to utilise the gifts of each member “to impact lives uniquely through evangelisation, teaching, theatre, music ministry, sports, hosting healing sessions and praise & worship events”.
The group continues to meet via Zoom for prayer and is also working towards formalising a music ministry.
