September 26th: The Paradox of the Christian Journey

God is about friendship, love, just being with and staying close.
Luke 9: 18 – 22.
The gospels remind us, in several places, that Jesus prayed. We do not know the content of his prayer, but we know he spent time apart and alone with the Father.
Jesus must have simply used his prayer to be with the Father. That too is important. We do not always need to have an agenda when praying. Simply being with the Father is enough because having a relationship with God is more important than fulfilling an agenda.
People get to know each other better in relationships. Simply sitting as friends and enjoying each other is a great value. If we concentrate more on having a relationship with the Lord, we would be better able to answer the question: “Who do you say I am?”
We will not know the Lord truly, if our prayer is more about lists and agendas. God is about friendship, love, just being with and staying close. We want to know God not just get things from Him.
