Anniversary Mass for cooks

GUADELOUPE

Three hundred cooks of the Association des Cuisinières de Guadeloupe (Cooks’ Association of Guadeloupe), celebrated their patron saint St Laurent (St Lawrence) and their 104th anniversary on August 15. The event usually takes place the Saturday after the feast day, August 10.

The annual procession arrived at the recently-renovated St Peter and St Paul RC Church for the anniversary Mass. Bishop Jean-Yves Riocreux of Basse-Terre and Pointe-à-Pitre was the chief celebrant. Seated in the congregation was the new Mayor of Pointe-à-Pitre.

After Mass, the cooks assembled outside the church near the presbytery for a gathering. (Adapted and translated from catholique-guadeloupe.fr)
