September 11th: The blind leading the blind.

Guiding another requires the guide to be more advanced, better equipped and have a clearer vision of the road ahead.

Luke 6: 39 – 42.

Today’s parable speaks of people guiding each other. It raised the question: Can one blind person lead another blind person? The simple answer is no. But the passage is not really about human blindness or one blind person trying to lead another blind person. Blindness, in the passage, is used to describe a lack of faith.

Therefore, let us read the question in this way: Can one faith person lead another who is at the same stage of faith as they? The answer is still no because they are at the same stage of faith. They can share, they can walk together, but one cannot think of guiding the other.

Guiding another requires the guide to be more advanced, better equipped and have a clearer vision of the road ahead. Therefore, the one who is in need of guidance should look to someone who can carry them to God rather than lead them into a rut. The one who truly guides must ensure that they can lead their dependents to true satisfaction.
