All His children, good and bad, pure and impure alike may one day return to the Father’s House.
Matthew 15: 21-28
Between God’s ‘chosen people’ and the nations around them, centuries of religious norms and traditions raised a wall too high to be breached. On either side dwelt neighbors unable to cross over, unwilling to sit together around the table which the Lord Himself prepared.
Today’s story of the Canaanite woman
opens our eyes to the walls we continually build around us,
and the messages they send to those outside.
Worse yet, we become gate-keepers,
sending others away instead of welcoming them.
We forget that Our Father God opened wide all gates,
tears down every wall, repairs ancient bridges
and makes the rough ways smooth,
so that all His children, good and bad, pure and impure alike
may one day return to the Father’s House.
When we share our bread instead of sending the hungry away, the Lord multiplies his gifts for all. When we tear down walls of division permitting others to cross over into our lives, the Lord enters and dwells with in us as well. HE continues what we have begun, destroying walls only God can destroy, and invites us to dwell with HIM forever.
