On June 27, 2020, the World Council of Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WWME) launched the rebranded ‘look and feel’ of the movement.

This new brand, of which the new logo forms part, was described as an “evolution, not a revolution” as it retained all of the old elements which over 1.75 million ‘encountered’ couples, priests and religious have grown to know and love over the last 52 years.

WWME is considered among the first marriage enrichment programmes offered to couples. Today we are the largest pro-marriage organisation in the world, enriching marriages in the Catholic tradition. Priests are enriched, too, as they experience how priesthood and marriage are lived in similar ways and can support each other.

As we look ahead, we want to continue to attract couples of all ages, but particularly young couples, to the WWME experience to ensure its future. We want to inspire and engage our thousands of encountered couples and priests to help us fulfil our mission and change the world, one married couple or one priest at a time.

The three years in rebranding the movement is our response to Pope St John Paul II’s call in the New Evangelization to be ‘new in ardor, new in method, new in expression’.

Our mission remains to proclaim the value of marriage and holy orders in the Church and in the world, and at this juncture we would like to take this opportunity, therefore, to reintroduce our beliefs.

1. We believe LOVE is the dream that gives meaning to the life of every person.
2. We believe every person is A GIFT to this world beyond his or her flaws and failures.
3. We believe everyone has the ability TO CHOOSE a better way, despite the difficulties.
4. We believe in LISTENING, in welcoming the other, and in respect beyond disagreements.
5. We believe in TRUST as a value that builds authentic interpersonal relationships.
6. We believe in RECONCILIATION, in the possibility of correcting mistakes and healing wounds.
7. We believe in the DAILY LOVE of a couple that can shine and give warmth to those around them.

We provide a variety of means to live the WWME experience from in-person weekend or weekday (two- and three-day) experiences to seven-week 3RE (REnew, REkindle, REstore) experiences.

However, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, just as the world and the Church, has had to adapt to a new reality, so have we. WWME has now introduced virtual experiences to continue proclaiming the values of Marriage and Holy Orders—don’t worry, we’re coming to you!

For the first time in the history of the Canadian/Caribbean Council of WWME, we are inviting married couples, priest and religious to experience a virtual Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend from August 28–30, 2020.
