Faithful are invited to join in the Emmanuel Community’s ‘Forty Day Rosary for Life’ which starts today, Friday July 31, the Feast of Our Lady of the Slain and ending September 8 on the Memorial of the Nativity of Our Lady.

Now in its third year, this year’s prayer intentions are for: the unborn, the children and youth of our nation, the family, the nation and the Catholic Church.

The launch takes place at the Emmanuel Community’s Rosalino St Woodbrook office  with a Service at noon. Recitation of the rosary begins 11.30 a.m. every week.

Jacqueline Allamani of Emmanuel Community told Catholic News that the Community thought it was “appropriate” to launch the campaign especially with the upcoming general elections and the present challenges in society, namely COVID-19.

She mentioned last year’s initiative was “really successful”.

“I remember one woman who gave a testimony of healing for her husband who did the 40 days…” she recalled.

“I don’t want to underestimate the power of united prayer. The Archbishop has been pushing unity in the Church. And you know scripture says storm Heaven with prayers,” Allamani said.

Registration has just begun. Reminders were sent to persons who participated last year.

Allamani said that once registered, daily prayers are offered for registrants.

“Usually when you [are] praying for these things you might be under attack, so we offer all participants’ intentions….”
