Jesus is giving everyone a chance to hear and bear fruit.

Matthew 13: 18 – 23.

Today’s parable is Jesus’ explanation of ‘The parable of the Sower’. The sower is Jesus and the seed is the Word of God. The parable speaks of the Word being planted all over. Jesus does not bother to check the type of soil into which he is planting the Word. The entire soil will receive. However, the parable also says that not all the types of soil will produce or even produce the same amount.

While the sower is willing to plant the Word everywhere, it requires suitable soil for it to take root and produce as expected. The types of soil speak to each person’s willingness to accept, his/her capacity to understand, endurance in the face of difficulties, focus on kingdom life and disposition to receive God in his/her life.

The soil must not work against the sower or the seed. Jesus is giving everyone a chance to hear and bear fruit. It is up to each person to receive.
