Weariness weakens the soul, and a soul that is weak can’t give life to the body, can’t give light to the eyes, can’t give hope to our journeys.
Matthew 11: 28-30
When weariness reaches the bone and you cannot stand upright, and if you stand you can’t move, you know you can’t go far. The end is in sight. Is like the soul want to leave the body. A prisoner who was tortured in Guantanamo after 9/11 put it this way. “I feel as though I no longer belong the human race”. Weariness weakens the soul, and a soul that is weak can’t give life to the body, can’t give light to the eyes, can’t give hope to our journeys.
When we hid from Columbus as he burned our villages and slaughtered entire families; when we jumped off the slave-ship and swam ashore, and centuries later we still swimming; when we suck-out poison from the snake-bite in the cane-field; when we get-up hungry in the morning and go to sleep hungry in the night; when our daughters give-in to the boss to hold on to their job and they shoot our sons even though their hands were high in the air; then you know we shouldered His yoke. We learnt from HIM. We ent get weary yet.
