Virtual forum on Black Lives Matter

Caribbean Theology Conference Today (CTCT) is hosting its second virtual forum Black Lives Matter: Caribbean Theological Perspectives on Thursday July 16 at 7 p.m.

Presenters will share theological, personal perspectives on the controversial, sensitive, and little reflected-upon topic.

Rev Dr Sonia Hinds, of the Anglican Diocese, Barbados will discuss institutional racism within the established Church in the Barbadian context; Dr Alison McLetchie, will give the perspective of the Caribbean diaspora living and working in the United States; and Fr Stephan Alexander focuses on the impact of racism from the generation post-1970s Black Power Revolution.

Presenters were invited to peruse the editorial ‘Race and Racism in the Caribbean: So Many Knees on So Many Necks’ but could engage the issue from any vantage point they chose. 

Participants will be invited to engage in a discussion following the presentations by putting forward comments/questions after presentations.

There is limited space as the forum is limited to the first 100 persons.

The CTCT Secretariat hopes the forum provides a much-needed space to profoundly engage in reflections of this historic experience.

The idea of hosting forums during the ‘in-between’ period of the CTCT’s bi-annual conferences stemmed from a desire expressed by several conference participants that a space was needed to reflect theologically on pertinent issues.
